Ludhiana: College of Dairy Science and Technology, (CODST) Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana celebrated world milk day on 1st June with the theme “Sustainability in Dairy Sector- Environment, Nutrition and Socio-Economics”. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU was chief guest of this celebration function whereas Dr. H S Banga, Registrar was guest of honor. Dr. Inderjeet Singh applauded the initiative taken by the college for creating the awareness among the consumers about the quality and nutritive value of the milk. He highlighted the importance of world milk day and relevance of milk in our daily life. He informed that Punjab state is having highest per capita milk availability of 1181 g/day among all the Indian states and praised the role played by cooperative sector in helping the dairy farmers during covid period. Further, he expressed his concern over the lower consumption levels of milk products as compared to liquid milk in comparison to developed countries.
