Quite contrary to the speculations that the Behbal Kalan Morcha will end after the thanksgiving programme on Saturday, the Morcha will continue till the chargesheet is filed in Behbal kalan firing incident.

“How can we end our protest unless and until our demand is fulfilled. We have been sitting in protest against the government demanding justice in the Behbal kalan police firing incident. So unless the chargesheet is filed in this case, we shall continue our protest,” said Sukhraj Singh Niamiwala, whose father Krishan Bhagwan Singh was killed on October 14,2015 besdies another Sikh youth Gurjeet Singh from Sarawan when the police fired on the protesters sitting peacefully at the entry road to Behbal kalan village.

Many religious and other leaders besides the public attended the Shukrana Samagam(thanksgiving programme) at Behbal Kalan including Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, cabinet minister Punjab.

The Morcha had chalked out a thanksgiving programme after the charge sheet was filed in Kotkapura case, naming the Badals and Sumedh Saini as accused.

“We had made a promise to the Morcha to get justice for the sacrilege issues, so our government has done our best. There is some delay, but a challan in the Kotkapura incident has been filed,” said Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who also visited the family of Gurjeet Singh from Sarawan.

“Now the matter is in courts of law and justice will be delivered as per the law,” he added speaking to the media persons.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, cabinet minister, assured the Morcha that the challan will be soon presented in the Behbal Kalan case as well.

“The chargesheet has already been filed in the Kotkapura case and in the Behbal kalan case too, it will be filed soon. Our chief minister deeply concerned about the case and he has said that the government would hire the best counsels to take the case to a logical conclusion in the courts,” said Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, speaking to the media at the programme,

It is pertinent to mention that two days before, the chief minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann had announced that chagesheet would be soon filed in the Behbal kalan police firing case, but within hours, that tweet was deleted.

“How will the people forgive us and allow us to lead a peaceful life if we lift our Morcha even before the filing of the Challan in the case. So we shall continue it,”said Sukhraj Singh Niamiwala.

However, most of the people, off the record, criticise both the Morcha and the respective governments alleging that politics is there and vested interests people are using the very unfortunate incidents of sacrilege and police firing killing two people on the spot.
