The Nakodar city police have booked unidentified gangsters on the charges of extortion and criminal intimidation.
The investigating officer (IO) Bhajan Singh said that the victim complained to the police that he received a letter by post in which it was written that this is not an ordinary letter but will become a life-or-death message for his family and you pay Rs 5 lakhs to them as ordered by their boss.
IO said that a case under sections 387(putting or attempting to put a person in fear of death or grievous hurt to commit extortion) and 506(criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the unidentified accused.
