The Mehatpur police have arrested two persons on the charge of stealing copper wires from areas.
The investigating officer (IO) Balwindar Singh said that the accused have been identified as Sajan son of Balkar a resident of Mohalla Chopra Mehat Pur and Jaswinder Singh alias Jassi son of Amarjit Singh a resident of Gahi Bhainni under Kum Kalan police station, Ludhiana and presently living at Bangiwal village.
Hardip Singh a resident of Mohalla Samar Mehat Pur and area residents complained to the police that the accused were indulging in stealing copper wires in Angakirrui village and other areas of Mehat Pur.
IO said that 10 kilograms of copper wire stolen from farmer’s transformers was recovered from the accused. A case under sections 379 (theft) and 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and scrap dealer Ajay a resident of Mehat Pur to whom stolen wires were sold.
