The Jamsher Sadar police have arrested Radhe Shyam and Vishal of Lakhan Pal village on charges of murdering an anti-drug crusader Lambardar Ram Gopal a resident of the same village who was brutally attacked last night.
The deceased was leading an active campaign against the sale of drugs at Lakhan Pal village and was under threat and had joined APP.
The accused and their four unidentified accomplices attacked Ram Gopal last night who was rushed to Jalandhar hospital where he breathed his last.
The Station House Officer Sukhdev Singh said a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused. And further investigations are on. He said the police recovered the car and weapons used in the crime from Ganna Pind under Phillaur police station.
Meanwhile, village residents and others blocked traffic on Jandiala -_Phagwara road to protest the murder.
