The Shahkot police have booked three unidentified thieves on the charges of attempting to murder, fire, and steal tractors and one thief died on the spot.
Gursharan Singh a resident of Fajal Pur village complained to the police that three unidentified thieves barged into his cold store on Parjian Road on Saturday early morning.
He said that after he noticed his missing three tractors he along with his bother chased them and found a tractor abounded on Shahkot road and went further and saw the tractor on road with three persons sitting on it.
Gursharan Singh said that he asked the accused to stop but one of them opened fire on them and he after deboarding from his vehicle fired in the air adding that the accused deboarded and another accused fired at them and fired from his licensed gun in self-defense which hit one of them who fell but other two managed to flee by firing and left third tractor on.
The Station House Officer G.S.Nagra said that a case under sections 307(attempt to murder) 457(house trespass),380 (theft in dwelling house ) of the Indian Penal Code, and sections 25/27 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused adding that one of the accused who was injured in firing by Gursharan Singh has died and has been identified as Harnek Lal son of Jagjit Ram a resident of Mahala village under Goraya police station.
