The Lohian Khas police on Saturday arrested a villager on the charge of firing on the Lohian Khas police.
The Station House Officer (SHO) Surijit Singh Padda said that the accused has been identified as Lovpreet Singh alias Labha son of Jiwan Singh a resident of Ismail Pur village who was discharged from Jalandhar civil hospital. SHO said the accused had opened fire at him and his driver on January 25 and was detained after he was injured in police firing and was admitted in the hospital.
SHO said a case under section 307(attempt to murder) 353(assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.) of the IPC and sections 25/54/59-A of the Arms Act was registered against the accused on January 25.
