The Bilga police have booked Gurjit Singh a resident of Umar Pur village in a dowry harassment case.
Mamta daughter of Pritam Singh a resident of Tehing village under Phillaur police station had filed a complaint to the senior superintendent of police, Jalandhar (rural), that her husband had been harassing her and demanding more and more dowry since her marriage.
The Investigating Officer Baljit Kaur said a case under section 498-A (husband or relative of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry. No arrest has been made.
