The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a couple on the charge of murdering a woman.
The Station House Officer (SHO) Palwindar Singh said that the accused have been identified as Manjit Lal son of
Mukhtiar Lal is a resident of Kotla Janga village and his wife Harjindar Kaur.
SHO said the accused murdered Paramjit Kaur wife of Jaswindar Singh a resident of Kotla Janga village.
Jaswindar Singh complained to the police that he is running a grocery shop in his village and his wife Paramjit Kaur an embroidery shop adjoining his shop
He said that on January 8 late evening, the accused Manjit Lal who is his neighbor came in front of his wife’s shop in an inebriated condition and started abusing his wife who tried to make him understand but the accused kept uttering filthy language against Paramjit.
Jaswinder Singh said his wife came out from her shop and humbly requested the accused to stop uttering filthy language against her but to no avail.
The complainant said Harjindar Kaur wife of the accused reached the spot after hearing noise with a stick in her hand and the accused Manjit snatch the stick from his wife and hit Paramjit Kaur’s head who fell on the ground unconsciously.
Jaswindar said he and his son reached the spot and rushed Paramjit t to Nakodar civil hospital where the doctors declared her dead.
He said that the accused used to utter filthy language in front of his wife’s shop daily, the deceased used to make him understand and stop abuses, and the accused murdered her in revenge.
SHO said a case under sections 302(murder) and 34(committing a crime with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.
