The Lohian khas police have booked three members of in laws on the charge of abetting suicide.
The investigating officer (IO) Hans Raj said the accused have been identified as Amarjit Singh a resident of Janta Nagar, Ludhiana, his wife Amarjit Kaur and son Gagandeep Singh
Rekha Ranni a resident of ward no.7 Lohian Khas complained to the police that her daughter Lovprit Kaur (25) marriage was solemnised with Gagandep Singh in 2021 but soon after her in-law’s family started harassing her for dowry and threw her out of the house.
She said in her complaint that Gagandeep Singh asked Lovprit kaur to divorce him who committed suicide by hanging herself in her parent’s house
IO said a case under section 306 (abetting suicide) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
