JALNADHAR 

 

During the year 2025, Jalandhar Rural Police conducted continuous and effective operations to prevent crime, curb drug trafficking, and strengthen law and order. These operations were carried out under the guidance of Harvinder Singh Virk, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, and under the supervision of Sarabjit Rai, superintendent of police, (investigation) The focused efforts resulted in substantial action against criminals under various laws.

 

Under the *NDPS Act*, a comprehensive enforcement, preventive, and rehabilitative approach was adopted. A total of *1,644 FIRs* were registered and *2,334 drug smugglers were arrested*. Large quantities of narcotics were seized, including *17 kg 319 gm opium, 969 kg 434 gm poppy husk, and 8 kg 623 gm heroin,* along with smack, charas, ganja, ICE, synthetic drugs, narcotic injections, pills, capsules, and drug money.To break the financial backbone of drug traffickers, action under *Section 68-F* was taken, wherein *13 cases* involving illegally acquired property worth *Rs. 5.9 CR* were sent to the Competent Authority. Freezing and seizing orders were received in *09 cases* amounting to *Rs. 4,47,83,540*, while *04 cases* involving property worth *Rs. 1,45,56,000* were pending. 

 

Along with enforcement, strong emphasis was laid on rehabilitation. With police assistance, *1,822 addicts were admitted to de-addiction centres*, while *5,393 addicts were taken to OOAT centres* for medical treatment and counselling.Further, under the *Safe Punjab initiative* related to NDPS and public complaints, *1,631 complaints* were received, *1,527 were disposed* of, *728 FIRs were registered*, and *956 accused were arrested*, ensuring effective grievance redressal and accountability.

 

Under the *Excise Act, 257 FIRs* were registered and 283 persons were arrested. Illicit liquor measuring *12,747 litre 545 ml, 21,831 kg lahan*, illegal working stills, and *chemicals measuring 4 litre 30 ml* were seized and destroyed.

 

Under the *Arms Act, 20 FIRs* were registered and *29 persons were arrested*. The recovered arms and ammunition included *67 pistols, 07 Arms (revolvers,rifles, guns), 231 cartridges, and 14 magazines*. 

 

Preventive awareness was also strengthened through community outreach. Under the *Saanjh Jagriti Program, 80 seminars* were conducted on cyber awareness, following the law, and cooperation with the police. Additionally, *454 awareness seminars were conducted by Punjab Police Mahila Mittra (PPMM)* on good touch and bad touch, domestic violence, helpline numbers, and the POCSO Act.

 

In cases related to *property related crimes* including robbery, loot, snatching, theft, burglary, and possession of stolen property, a total of *408 FIRs* were registered, out of which *301 cases* were traced. During these cases, stolen property such as gold and silver jewellery, cash, mobile phones, two-wheelers,four-wheelers, electronic items, and other valuables was recovered, and approximately *48.09%* of stolen property was restored to the rightful owners.

 

For road safety and traffic regulation, action by *ERV-112 and Traffic staff* resulted in *40,050 challans, 706 vehicles impounded,* and recovery of a total *fine amounting to Rs. 2 CR Approximate*. Awareness seminars were also conducted to promote traffic discipline and road safety.

 

Additionally, *515 Sampark meetings and awareness seminars* were organized across all subdivisions to strengthen police-public relations and enhance community participation in crime prevention.

 

, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, reiterated that the police remains fully committed to public safety, eradication of drugs, and maintenance of a crime-free society, and appealed to the public to actively cooperate by sharing information regarding any suspicious activities.

 

The Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, extended New Year greetings to the public and stated that the police will showcase even better performance in the coming year with continued public support. He emphasized that everyone should collectively pledge to stay away from drugs, respect the law, and work together to build a safer, peaceful, and progressive society
