- The move is only against leaders of the opposition, while AAP & BJP continue to enjoy Mann’s patronage
Chandigarh: Raising serious doubt & concern over Bhagwant Mann government’s drive against corruption, Senior Congress Leader and Punjab’s Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa has dubbed it completely biased & discriminatory and said it was heavily loaded only against the leaders of the opposition.
“When the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power and Bhagwant Mann was sworn in as the chief minister I expected him to be free and fair of any biases or prejudices while dealing with the opposition leaders especially when it comes down to cases of corruption. Though the government is nearly seven months old however so far its drive against corruption has been completely lopsided and is only hell bent upon cornering & fixing the congress leadership”, said Bajwa.
Bajwa said Bhagwant Mann government has gone completely silent on cabinet minister Fauja Singh Sarari whose audio clip of extorting money from the government officials with the help of his OSD Tarsem Lal Kapoor had gone viral nearly a month ago. Instead of acting his own cabinet colleague Bhagwant Mann and his other cabinet colleagues have gone out of their way to protect the corrupt minister.
On the other hand Bhagwant Mann has unleashed the Punjab vigilance bureau after the congress leaders such as Gurdaspur MLA Barindermeet Singh Pahra & Sandeep Singh Sandhu and others without having sufficient evidence of corruption.
Bajwa said it could be anybody’s guess why the Bhagwant Mann government and its vigilance bureau was completely oblivious to the wrong doings of the AAP leaders and the ministers.
“Bhagwant Mann is also equally kind to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders especially against those who had crossed over to the saffron party to get protection from the investigating agencies.
“What action Bhagwant Mann has taken against AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, who has been troubling his second wife and putting pressure on the Punjab Police not to register a case on her complaint. Another AAP MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura threatened a woman and even pressurized her to pay Rs. one lakh as protection money but no action has been initiated against him as well.
“AAP MLAs in Jalandhar Raman Arora and brother of Sheetal Aungural not only beat up a DCP rank police officer but also misbehaved with the civil hospital staff but we see no action against them as well. The ED and the CBI raids on AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra is no secret. Punjab’s Health Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra is embroiled in one or the other controversy everyday but Bhagwant Mann always keen to give him a clean chit. What kind of government Bhagwant Mann is running which is full of bias and discrimination ”, added Bajwa.
