The Shahkot police have booked five persons, including two women, on the charge of abetting suicide.
Investigating officer IO) Sukhwindar Pal Singh said that the accused have been identified as Sarabjit Kaur
wife of Paramjit Singh a resident of Mohalla Simbal Shahkot, Harbant Kaur wife of Harjindar Singh,
resident of the same locality, Ashok Kumar, son of Mohindar Ram, a resident of Kirti Nagar, Hoshiar Pur
Jora Singh, son of Buta Singh, a resident of Kartar Nagar Shahkot, and Ravindar Singh alias Ravi, son of Surjit Singh, a resident of Meinywal Moulvian village
Sukhjit Kaur wife of the deceased Sukhwindar Singh a resident of Model Town Shahkot complained to the police that her husband was working as a clerk in Oversees Indian Bank Nakodar and the accused Sarabjit Kaur took Rs 16.67 Lakhs on credit basis but refused to return the money and when we went to their house the accused and her sister Harbant Kaur insulted them.
The complaint said the accused Ashok Kumar took Rs 2,40 lakhs from them, and Rs 80000 remained area The accused Jora Singh took money on credit from them and Rs 1.60 lakhs remained area The accused Ravinder Singh, nephew of Jora Singh, gave a guarantee.to return the money.She said that whenever we demanded money back, we were insulted, and this became a headache for her husband, who committed suicide by consuming sulphone tablets on July 3, and wrote a suicide note blaming all the accused for his death. She demanded action against the accused.
IO said that a case under section 108(abetment of suicide) of the BNS has been registered against the accused.
