The Nakodar City police have booked a travel agent on Wednesday for allegedly duping a man of Rs 4.91
lakh on the pretext of sending his nephew.
Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhpal Singh, who is the investigating officer in this case, said that the accused has been identified as Jaskaran Veer Singh, son of Mohinder Singh, a resident of Sanghe Jagir village under Nurmahal police station.
Ram Dass, a resident of Mahun Wal village, d complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that he paid Rs 4.91 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his nephew’s migration to England. However, neither did he send his nephew abroad, nor did he return the money.
DSP said a case under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
