The Nurmahal police have arrested a villager on the charges of using caste remarks, abusive language, and criminal intimidation.
The investigating officer (IO) and Nakodar deputy superintendent of police Harjindar Singh said that the accused has been identified as Karamjit Singh alias Pamma Majhail son of Ajaib Singh a resident of Kot Badal Khan village.
Lovepreet Singh a resident of the same village has complained to the police that the accused armed with sharp edged weapons came to his mohalla and used caste remarks against him and his family before his house and used filthy and abusive language against him and threatened him with dire consequences.
IO said that a case under sections 294(singing, reciting or uttering any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place, ) 427(mischief ) ,506(criminal intimidation) and 34 (committing crime with common intention) of the IPC and sections 3(i)(iii) of the SC/ST Act was registered against the accused and others.
