Faridkot: Chander Gaind, a 2004-batch IAS officer today assumed office of Divisional Commissioner Faridkot after an impressive guard of honour by the district administration in the presence of Deputy Commissioner and SSP Faridkot.
After taking charge, the newly appointed Divisional Commissioner had an introductory meeting with the senior officers of civil and police administration of Faridkot district at his office. During the meeting, Gaind asserted that the zero-tolerance policy against corruption would be adopted strictly as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government has already launched a crackdown on corruption.
He urged people of districts falling under Faridkot division i.e. Bathinda, Faridkot and Mansa districts to lodge their such complaints directly with him in case no action is taken by the authorities concerned. He further mentioned that stern action would be initiated in such cases and directed the officials to accord top-priority to people's grievances through quick disposal of such complaints. The divisional commissioner has also ensured smooth coordination between the administrations of all three districts falling within Faridkot divisions stating that it would help implement Punjab Government pro-people initiative in letter and spirit. Similarly, the emphasis would be laid on the anti-drug drive of the state government as maximum awareness and enforcement measures would be taken up in the district. He also stated that the focus would also be given at percolating benefits of government schemes and policies to maximum people in a smooth and hassle-free manner at ground level.
It is pertinent to mention here that Gaind is also known as `Public DC’ for his pro-people initiatives and easily accessibility to masses, he attained this title during his small yet impressive stint as Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur.
Notably, Chander Gaind had earlier served as Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur, Divisional Commissioner Patiala besides holding other key portfolios in the government. 
Popular for taking up unique initiatives, Gaind to kickstart some novel ideas in the division 
Chander Gaind is known for taking up unique initiatives in the district where he has been posted in various capacities during his service. As Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur he had implemented 'Tree for Gun' project under which it was made mandatory for the applicants seeking arms license to plant ten saplings. Not only this, the applicants had to submit pictures of saplings planted by them along with their application file to ensure they had genuinely planted saplings and also doing follow up care of them. Likewise, he had also given chance to a class X student suffering from a uncommon disease to become DC by making her performing the duties of Deputy Commissioner for one day, thereby motivating her to fulfill her dreams to become an official in her life despite odds. Interacting with media persons, the divisional commissioner said that he would definitely introduce some such projects in Faridkot division besides rolling out new initiatives.On this occasion DC Dr. Ruhee Dugg, SSP Rajpal Singh, SDM Faridkot Madam Baljeet Kaur, SDM Kotkapura Madam Veerpal Kaur and SDM Jaitu Dr. Nirmal Osepachan were also present.
