Notorious travel agent booked for duping Nurmahal villager of Rs 50 Lakhs

 

NAKODAR

The Nakodar City police have booked notorious travel agent for allegedly duping a Nurmahal villager of Rs.50 lakhs on the pretext of sending his son abroad.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhpal Singh who is investigating the case said that the accused has been identified as Gurdev Singh son of Arjan Singh a resident of Kalyan Pur village under Lambarra police station who has 11 cases of cheating against him in different police stations and has no licence issued by district administration.  

Gurmit Singh a resident of Fateh Pur village under Nurmahal police station complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police that he paid Rs 50 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son ‘s migration to USA, but the accused did not send him abroad and not returned the money.

 

 DSP said that a case under section406 (breach of trust). 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
