SHAHKOT
The total purchase of paddy by the state government and private agencies from farmers have crossed 12.19lakhs quintals under the jurisdiction of the Shahkot market committee on Thursday which is less by 25 percent of purchase last year on this date.
Committee secretary Tejindar Kumar said we are expecting 2 percent more purchase of paddy this season and may not achieve targets of 16.52 lakhs quintals purchased last year. He said this is due to fall of yield per acre due to various reasons.
