JALANDHAR
A cycle rally dedicated to the Armed Forces Flag Day arrived here on Monday morning and was given a rousing welcome in the War Memorial by District Sainik Board vice-president Brigadier Inderjit Singh Chauhan and others.
The rally was flagged off on November 7 by Punjab Defence Services Welfare Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra and it will end at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh on December 7, 2023, on Armed Forces Flag Day.
Brigadier Inderjit Singh Chauhan said that the youth of Punjab had always served the country by joining the armed forces to maintain the unity and integrity of the country. He expressed hope that the cycle rally would instill patriotism among the youth and motivate them to join the armed forces. He said the main objective was to spread awareness among the people about the sacrifices made by soldiers and to motivate them to join the armed forces. Singh said that the purpose of the rally was to inform the residents about Flag Day and encourage them to contribute more.
On this occasion, cheques of financial assistance from the Flag Day Fund were also distributed to the 13 beneficiaries. Following this, the cycle rally left for Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum in Ludhiana.
