Land dispute: Three died, four injured in indiscriminate firing in village Kotha Guru of Bathinda district

The accusewd later committed suicide killing the two and leaving four injured, two of the injured are serious.

Three persons were killed and two were seriously injured in a firing incident in village Kotha Guru of Bathinda district on Friday morning.
Gursharan Singh,a middle aged man allegedly fired at his cousin Gurshant Singh with his .12 bore gun from the upper room of his house.
The firing left Gurshant Seriously injured and when another man Bhola Singh rushed to remove Gurshant's body, the shooter also fired at him killing him on the spot as well.
He again fired at two other men Kuldeep Singh and Ghona leaving them seriously injured.
Two other persons were also injured in the incident whose condition is stated to be stable.
The Bathinda police immediately rushed to the spot and also fired at the shooter to neutralize him. He then rushed down to a room and locked himself and also shot himself dead.
"The shooter Gursharan Singh and Gurshant Singh, the victim, were cousins. There was a land dispute, measuring one Kanal among some close families .It was never like that the dispute would end in such a tragic way leaving the three persons dead. Gursharan fired at Gurshant at about 7:30 AM leaving him badly injured. When another man Bhola Singh rushed to save Gurshant Singh, Gurshanan also fired at him leaving him dead as well and then cornered by the police, he committed suicide," the police said.
Gurshanan's father told the media that he himself, his mother and wife shut dorms of the room to save themselves.
"I was going to take a bath when the incident took place. We saved ourselves by shutting the doors of our room. He was in deep depression and taking treatment for it as well," said Gursharan' s father.
"There was the death anniversary of Gurshant's father and people said that they were reading to attend the bhog ceremony of his late father when the incident took place.
The accused opened indiscriminate firing on whoever rushed to try to save Gurshant and he also allegedly fired at police to keep it at bay.
He allegedly fired about 15to 20 bullets before committing suicide.
The police also fired many bullets to force him to surrender.
SHO police station Bhagta Bhai, DSP Phool and SP Bathinda Ajay Gandhi reached the spot immediately besides other officers.
