Administration on its toes to tackle Dengue menace: DC

JALANDHAR

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Sunday said that the district administration was working round the clock to prevent the dengue and officials were asked to intensify the larva-checking drive to check its spread.
Sarangal while divulging the details about the anti-larva checking drive, said that health teams had surveyed 212521 houses and other places to check larvae breeding in the district since January 23, 2023. Mosquito larvae have been found in as many as 866 places and 65 challans have been issued to the violators. He said that larvae had been found for the first time in most of the houses, therefore violators had been given a strict warning that action would be taken on finding the larvae again.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that the health department has already conducted three surveys in 115 targeted areas, including 20 hot spots and 95 slum areas, and the fourth survey is still underway. He further said that every Friday, the teams of the health department conduct a survey of dengue larvae in other public places including government and non-government offices, including bus stand, and railway station. He said that dengue awareness camps were also being organized across Jalandhar and regular meetings were held to monitor and review the ground situation.
Sarangal also appealed to the public to follow the precautions and ensure no stagnated water in their surroundings. He said that stagnant water was the potential breeding ground for mosquitoes responsible for dengue and that people should check water containers, tires, and coolers inside or near their houses.
