Chamber of commerce and industries Kotkapura has expressed their concern on the alleged rise of snatching and theft incidents in Kotkapura.
In a post on social media, The chamber of commerce and industries has suggested to the locals, including traders, some ways to ensure their security.
"There is a rise in the incidents of snatchings and thefts which sends a panic among the locals. The criminal elements come on bikes and run away snatching and making thefts. Most of the criminals are petty thieves and drug addicted youth. So there was a panic among traders besides locals and we have given a representation to the DSP and SHO city Kotkapura. We have also met the senior superintendent of police Faridkot Friday. We hope that the police will ensure the safety of the locals," said Omkar Goel, president of the organization.
"We have suggested to the traders that they should be very careful about their articles and the locals are appealing to hire watchmen besides installing CCTV cameras. We also appeal to the locals to ensure that the FIR is registered against the accused and police must be informed. But due to many technical problems, such criminals escape the law as they are mostly drug addicted. However, we are hopeful that police administration must pay attention towards our problem.
When contacted, Gurmehar Singh, station house officer city Kotkapura said that he will be sent the poster being circulated on the social media and only then he can comment.
When contacted later, he did not answer the phone call.
The story will be updated if the version of the police is available later on.
