The employees working in Punjab Government departments expressed their annoyance with the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for changing the timings of government offices from 7:30 am to 2 pm.
However attendance in the government offices was hundred percent and even the officers and Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal reached their offices before 7:30 am
Expressing his annoyance , Punjab DC offices Ministerial Staff Association State General Secretary Satbir Singh told that all the employees working in DC office reached well in time to attend the office but there was no public to deal with and as usual public came to office after 10 am and most of the employees remained idle in their seats.He said government should have delayed its decision of change in timings for at least one month as the paddy sowing season to start on June 10 when the demand of power increases many times and moreover today temperature is normal due to good climate around 27degree Celsius and no air-conditioned worked and all the offices worked with fans.
He said that employees Association will soon approach the DC to persuade the State Government to reconsider its decision and in case government want to change the timings it should be done during the period of paddy sowing season scheduled on June 10.
He said employees who came from far off places and women staff faced more difficulties because of school children whose school timings was yet to changed.
Education Department assistant Satwant Kaur told that she came to office without breakfast and even could not ready her school going children and asked her neighbours to look after the children and sent them to school and even worried about the safety of children and home as the thefts are increasing day by day.She demanded that office working should be changed to 9am to 3 pm.
However Additional Deputy Commissioner (General)Sagar Setia expressed his happiness over the change in timings as it will save power and he will get more time to spend with his family .
