Shahkot MLA among thirteenth booked for deterring public servants from performing duty

 

SHAHKOT

The Shahkot police have booked thirteen persons including Shahkot MLA Hardev Singh Laadi Sherowalia on the charges of deterring public servants from discharging their duties, wrongful restraint, and rioting.

The Station House Officer (SHO) Baljit Singh said that other associates of MLA have been identified as Lakhbir Singh Lakha chairman of block samiti, Sarup Singh , Akash Deep resident of Rupewal village Iqbal Singh , Balraj Singh, Harjindar Singh Hardeep Singh, Sukhdeep Singh Surinder Singh, Ashwinder Singh.

SHO said that Gagadeep Singh a resident of Mohalla Sheikhu Pura, Jandiala Guru in Ameristar complained to the police that he is working as a private driver of Baba Bakala MLA Dalbir Singh Tong.

He said in his complaint that he along with official security were accompanying MLA who was going to Baba Balaka in two-vehicles on May 10  and there was a traffic jam at Malsian town they decided to take a detour via villages and when they reached Rupewal village the congress workers led by MLA Hardev Singh Laddi stopped MLA Dalbir Singh’s vehicle by blocking passage with tractor trollies and other vehicles and snatched key of his vehicle and assaulted government employees and deterred them from performing their duty and the police rescued them.

   He said that this way they obstructed public servants from doing their public function and their names were known later.

 

SHO said that a case under sections 353(deterring public servants from a discharge of their duty) 341(wrongful restraint) 186( obstructing a public servant from doing his public function ) and 148(rioting ) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Shahkot MLA and his associates and further investigations are on.
