The Goraya police have booked 2 Ludhiana and 1 Chandigarh resident on the charge of violating an order of the Jalandhar deputy commissioner not to be present in the Jalandhar parliament constituency after the campaign for by-election ended on May 8.

The Investigating Officer (IO) Surinder Pal said that the accused have been identified as Sonny Sandhu, a resident of Chandigarh and Ashok Pople resident, and Yogesh Handa Ludhiana.

Gurpreet Singh a resident of Barra Pind village complained to the police that the accused were present in Senior Secondary Scholl (girls ) Goraya on May 10 where polling booths numbers 34,35,36 and 36 were established for voting by the Election Communion of India and thus violated the model code of conduct and were influencing voters even though every outsider was asked to leave Jalandhar parliamentary constituency after the campaign for by-election ended on May 8.

 

IO said that a case under section 188(disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused.
