The total purchase of wheat grain by the state government agencies from farmers on Sunday crossed 3 lakhs 52,689 quintals which is more than the fixed target of 3 Lakhs 21,765 quintals in grain markets under the jurisdiction of the Lohian Khas market committee.
Committee secretary Jatindar Kumar said this year’s purchase is more than target despite bad weather adding that purchasing agencies are expecting some more quintals purchase. He said that 1,91,205 quintals of purchased wheat had been lifted and 1,61,484 quintals remain un-lifted, and farmers have been paid till 23 April.
