The Mehat Pur police on Tuesday arrested a murder accused after a two-hour chase of committing the crime.
Jalandhar(rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mukhwindar Singh Bhullar told media persons that the accused has been identified as Ravi Kumar alias Ravi son of Darbara Ram a resident of Udho Wal village.
SSP said that the accused barged into the house of Kashmir Chand of Udho wal village on April 25 and opened fire and killed on the spot Gurbax Kaur wife of Kashmir Chand and seriously injured his son Deepak Kumar who has been admitted to a Jalandhar hospital.
SSP said that he formed a special team of senior police officials who nabbed the accused within two hours.
SSP said a case under sections 302(murder) 307(attempt to murder) 452(house tress pass) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused on a statement of Deepak Kumar and recovered 32-bore revolver used in the crime and 5 empty cartridges, 20 live cartridges from his possession and impounded his motorcycle (PB-08-EL 4993) used in committing the crime.
