NAKODAR
Jalandhar (rural) police on Saturday carried out a special operation aimed at checking the movement of anti-social elements and drug smugglers in hot spots of rural areas in view of the Jalandhar parliamentary bye-election.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mukhwindar Singh Bhullar led the operation and senior police officers were engaged in the operation.
In a press release, the SSP office said that Shahkot and Lohian Khas station house officer Baljit Singh and Jai Pal and CIA in charge Pushap Bali lead special teams carried out the search in hot spots of drug peddlers namely Dharme Dian Chhana and Bute Dian Chhana villages under Mehat Pur police station.
It said the search operation was carried out to make police presence more visible and instill a sense of security among the people.
The SSP M.S. Bhullar said peace and harmony would be maintained in the Jalandhar district.
The police also organized flag marches in Shahkot Nakodar and Mehat Pur areas in which para-military forces participated.
