The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested two members of a snatchers’ gang.
The Investigating Officer (IO) and Uggi police post-in-charge Gurnam Singh said that the accused have been identified as Amrik Singh son of Balvir Singh and Paramjit Singh son of Gurdev Singh residents of Mallian Kalan village.
Amrik Singh Sarpanch a resident of Sammi Pur village under Lambarra police station complained to the police that he was going to Malsian town when the accused waylaid him near Mallian Khurd village and assaulted and snatched from him Rs 12,500.
IO said that a case under sections 379-B (snatching) and 34(committing a crime with the common intention) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and recovered from their possession Rs 3000 and impounded a motorcycle used by the accused in the crime.
Increasing incidents of snatching in areas have created a sense of insecurity among residents and put a question mark on police patrolling.
