The Nurmahal police have booked a US-based unidentified travel agent and his unidentified Indian accomplice based in Kolkata on the charge of duping a woman of Rs.10 lakhs on the pretext of sending her broad.
The Investigating officer (IO) Amrik Lal said that Simarnjit Kaur daughter of Daljit Singh a resident of Daadu Wal village complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that she paid Rs 10 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her migration to Canada, but she was not sent abroad nor returned the money. IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
