NAKODAR
The Nakodar city police have arrested an ex-food-civil supply inspector who was posted at Nakodar on the charge of embezzling wheat stored in the government godowns.
The investigating officer (IO) Mandip Singh said that the accused have been identified as inspector Daljit Singh son of Nachhatar Singh a resident of Gill village.
Controller Food and civil supplies department Jalandhar Rahul Bassi had complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police complained to police that the accused embezzled wheat stored in the government godowns and during checking of stores 6043.1 quintals of wheat was found less.
IO said a case under sections 409(criminal breach of trust by a public servant),420(cheating), and 380(theft in dwelling house) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused after an inquiry.
