The Punjab government has failed to meet its stamp duty collection targets in the district.
Shahkot tehsildar Karandeep Singh Bhullar said a sum of Rs 1 crore,84 lakhs 91,134 were collected during the fourth quarter of the financial year in Shahkot tehsil against a target of Rs 3 crores.
The Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Department (Stamps and Registration branch) had fixed a stamp duty collection target of Rs 342.8 crores for the district. Shahkot was targeted to collect Rs 3 crore in the fourth quarter and Rs 8 crore during the financial year, but it collected Rs 1 crore 84lakhs and 91,134 during the fourth quarter of the financial year, and Rs 7 crores,72 lakhs and 65,523 in the financial years.
