JALANDHAR
Taking a significant step to ensure uninterrupted power supply, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has issued directions to all telecom and internet service providers operating in Jalandhar district to remove their unused and unauthorized wires from PSPCL poles before August 31, 2025. In the orders, the Deputy Commissioner also directed all telecom and internet service providers to contact PSPCL by August 31 to regularize the wires laid on Powercom poles. Giving further details, Dr. Aggarwal said that it has come to his notice that several telecom and internet service providers working in the city have illegally laid wires on PSPCL poles, which is adversely affecting the power supply. He said that any company failing to regularize or remove such unauthorized connections by the given date will have to pay a penalty as prescribed per pole by PSPCL, and all unauthorized wires laid on PSPCL poles will be removed immediately without any prior notice. He further instructed PSPCL officials to ensure strict compliance with these directions and initiate necessary action against defaulters even after the stipulated date. It is noteworthy that, with the objective of removing hanging, unused, and damaged wires across the city, PSPCL had launched a pilot project from Master Tara Singh Nagar under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner. While reviewing the progress of this pilot project in a meeting today, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged PSPCL officials on its successful completion and asked them to implement the project across the entire city. Seeking cooperation from the public in this task, Dr. Aggarwal said that complaints regarding removal of unused, damaged, and dilapidated wire bunches or repair of poles can be lodged on the district administration’s helpline number 9646-222-555. He said the complaints registered by the public will be forwarded to PSPCL’s nodal officers for immediate resolution. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the purpose of this campaign is not only to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply for city residents but also to guarantee their safety and restore the city’s aesthetic appearance.
