The Nurmahal police have arrested a woman and her paramour on charges of abetting suicide and criminal conspiracy.
The investigating officer (IO) Amrik Lala said that the accused have been identified as Renu wife of Avtar Chand, the deceased, a resident of colony Kot Badal Khan village, and her paramour Amaritpal Singh a resident of the same locality.
Jogindar Pal a resident of Kot Badal Khan village and father of the deceased complained to the police that Avatar Chand was married to Renu daughter of Lachhman Ram a resident of Bhullar village under Bilga police station.
Jogindar said in his complaint husband and wife developed a constrained relationship as Renu had illicit relations with Amritpal.
He said that his son came to Nurmahal and started living in rented accommodation, but the accused Amritpal used to visit Renu and his son told him all this.
Jogindar Pal said this led to fighting between husband and wife adding that Amrit Pal was working as a farm hand with Karamjit Singh alias Pamma Majhail son of Ajaib Singh a resident of Kot Badal Khan village who encouraged him financially to continue his relationship with Renu.
Jogindar Pal said that his son Avtar Chand ended his life on Saturday by strangulating himself in his rented accommodation in Mohalla Khatikan , Nurmahal adding that three accused are responsible for the death IO said a case under sections 306(abetting suicide) and 120(B) (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and Karamjit Singh alias Pamma.
