DC Faridkot Ruhee Dugg on Wednesday instructed the revenue officials to speed up the work of conducting Special Girdawari to assess the damage of the crops in the district.
She presided over a review meeting of the revenue officials today.
She said that the officials must conduct the girdawari on priority bases where the crops have been damaged badly but no fields should be left without survey.
The SDMs of the three tehsils should visit the spots to ensure that girdawari is being done properly, she said.
SDM Kotkapura Virpal kaur and SDM Faridkot Baljeet Kaur were present in the meeting besides chief agriculture officer Karanjeet Singh and others.
Earlier in denial mode, the government machinery has come into action after the chief minsiter Bhagwant Mann instructed the revenue department to conduct girdawari as most of the wheat and other crops in the state have been badly damaged by the rains and thunderstorms.
Earlier, the AAP MLAs and agriculture department nearly tried to ignore the damage, when the first rainfall caused havoc on the crops.
It is the testing time of the Bhagwant Mann led government if he fairly compensates the farmers or fails to protect agriculture as AAP had been a critic of the previous governments.
The hails and thunderstorms have almost broken the backbone of the farming community which is the spinal cord of the state economy employing most of the population into it.
