NAKODAR
Nakodar civil hospital is facing a shortage of important specialist doctors. Senior medical officer (SMO) Doctor Sanjiv Kumar said there are fourteen posts of medical officers in fifty bedded hospitals, but the posts of Surgeon, Ear Nose and Throat specialist, Radiologist, Anaesthetist, and Pathologist, and two posts of medical officers are lying vacant. He said that he has informed the civil surgeon about this situation adding that daily more than 500 outdoor door patients come to the hospital for medical treatment.
SMO said that there are 77 sanctioned posts of medical and para-medical staff in the hospital out of which 36 posts are lying vacant. Ten posts of staff nurses are vacant, and 11 posts of class four employees are lying.
SMO said that a new scan machine is required, and the scan expert has resigned from his post.
He said that the medicine supply is not regular and not as per requirement.
SMO said four employees of this hospital are working on deputation in other hospitals adding that the hospital needs security staff.
