Travel agent arrested for duping woman of Rs 6 lakh

 

NAKODAR

The Nakodar city police have arrested a travel agent for duping a woman of Rs 6 lakh on the pretext of sending her sons abroad. 

Nakodar deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Harjinder Singh accused has been identified as Gurprit Singh son of Anokh Singh, a resident of  Paajian village in Kapurthala.

 Sarabjit Kaur wife of Baldev Singh, a resident Nangal Ambian village in Shahkot had complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that she had paid Rs 6 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her two son’s migration abroad. 

However, the accused neither sent them abroad nor returned the money.

 

DSP said a case under sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act was registered against the accused that has been released on bail granted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
