The Shahkot police have arrested a travel agent on the charge of duping a woman of Rs.19.80 lakhs on the pretext of sending her son abroad.
The investigating officer (IO) Lakhvir Singh that the accused has been identified as Neeraj Attar son of Indarjit Attar a resident of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar road, Ludhiana.
Rajwindar Kaur a resident of Talwandi Madho village had complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police that she had paid Rs 19.80 to the accused for facilitating her son’s migration to Canada. But he was given a fake visa and thus cheated her.
IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating) 464(making a false document), and 506(criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused.
