On Tuesday, Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan directed the senior superintendent of police Farikdot Rajpal Singh Sandhu to take an initiative from village Dhudhi of Kotkapura assembly segment to eradicate the menace of drugs.
Kultar Singh Sandhwan was speaking during a Kabaddi tournament in the village.
"Perturbed on the repeated complaints of the prevalence of the drug supply and smuggling in Faridkot, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha has directed the SSP Faridkot Rajpal Singh Sandhu to start a campaign to eradicate the menace of drugs from here, village Dhudhi, reads the press release sent to media by the PRO of the Speaker.
"Now the government is also seriously investigating the cases registered under NDPS act and the properties of the drug smugglers would also be attached and confiscated. We shall soon declare the Faridkot district as free of drugs which would be an inspiration for the other districts as well," said Kultar Singh Sandhwan.
SSP Rajpal Singh Sandhu assured the people of the village to make it drug free first of all, but sought the cooperation of the Public as well.
"The police have also released a whatsapp number to entertain the information regarding the drug smugglers and the name and address of the informers is totally kept a secret. So the public must cooperate to eradicate the evil of the drugs," said SSP Rajpal Singh Sandhu, reads the press note issued by the PRO office of the Speaker.
It is pertinent to mention that some days ago, SSP Faridkot Rajpal Singh Sandhu had left the meeting being chaired by Faouja Singh Sarari, in which Kultar Singh Sandhwan raised some issues against the SSP Faridkot.
The sources had claimed that SSP Faridkot had refused to oblige  the AAP leadership in some cases, but AAP leaders claimed that it was an issue of drug smuggling in the district.
