 NAKODAR

Nakodar residents on Monday evening organized a candle march to show their support and demand justice for the late cloth merchant Bhupindar Singh Chwala alias Timmi and his security guard who were gunned down by gangsters on Wednesday.

Before starting the candle march residents staged in dharna in front of Royal Towers market where the gruesome crime was committed.

Family members of the deceased cloth merchant participated in the dharna

Residents demanded to stop violence against citizens and carried banners and placards demanding justice for their deceased colleague.

They demanded the arrest of culprits and a government job for the wife of Bhupinder Singh Chawla.

Harindar Singh father of Timmi, his wife, daughters, and sisters said that the Nakodar police have failed to arrest the accused even after six days of the crime. They said that Timmi had received a threatening call for Rs 30 Lakhs ransom 38 days ago and they met senior police officials time and again, but the police failed to act in time to ensure the security of Timmi.

The candle march started from the incident site and passed through various markets culminating at Ambedkar Chowk.

Nakodar SDM R.S.Heer and DSP Harjindar Singh reached the dharna site and assured family members that their demands would be sent to the government and they will try to help in the fulfilment of demands.
