Revenue officers strike against detention of cancer patient woman naib tehsildar

Revenue officers of Nakodar, Shahkot subdivisions and Nurmahal sub tehsil on Wednesday observed a complete strike to protest against detaining a cancer patient woman Naib Tehsildar in her office yesterday and not allowing her to take medicines.
The Punjab Revenue Officers Association(PROA) has given a call for strike in protest against the hostage of Charanjit Kaur, Naib Tehsildar Bhagta Bhai Ka, Bhatinda district.
The police had registered a case against some persons of Kisan Union.
According to the FIR, Jagtar Singh of Bhagta Bhai Ka came to the Naib Tehsildar office around 4 pm for attendance for the ‘Ikrarnama’ which was having nobody’s signature. On this, he came along with 2-3
persons and his son and started misbehaving with lady Naib Tehsildar and started making a video besides threatening to go viral on social media. A hindrance was created in her official work when the
registration work was going on.
On the complaint of Naib Tehsildar,
a case was registered against Jagtar Singh and his son and 2-3 unidentified persons.
Vijay Behal, Tehsildar, State General Secretary, PROA said, it is very unfortunate that a cancer patient, Charanjit Kaur, Naib Tehsildar has
been detained in her chamber since 1.30 pm on Monday and administration has failed to get her released. He said the Kisan Union is building pressure on the police as well as civil administration to cancel the FIR. He said, earlier also, the Naib Tehsildar was mistreated on December 1 and an FIR was lodged against
the offenders, but no arrest was made.
Giving a warning to the government, Behal said, if strict action is not taken against the
concerned Kisan Union members in this case , then the PROA will be compelled to act.
Charanjit Kaur said that she is a cancer patient and was
detailed in her office room by the farmers outside her office and was not allowed to take her medicine kept in her car, which she had to take regularly without any break.
