Nakodar travel agent booked for duping Kapurthala villager of Rs 8.80 lakhs

 

NAKODAR

 The Nakodar city police have booked a travel agent on the charge of allegedly duping a Kapurthala villager of Rs 8.80 lakhs on the pretext of sending his son and another abroad.

The investigating officer (IO) Mandip Singh said that the accused has been identified as Amrik Singh son of Arjan Singh a resident of Mohalla Rehman Pura Nakodar.

 Rannjit Singh a resident of Amarjit Pur village under Sultan Pur Lodhi in Kapurthala complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he has paid Rs 8.80 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son Komalprit Singh and Harpal Singh’s son Jasneet Singh migration abroad. However, both were neither sent abroad nor returned the money.

 

IO said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)has registered against the accused after an inquiry.
