Ludhiana ; International workshop of folk dances at G. G. N Public School here today saw the punjabi students learning Colombian Dances and the Colombian folk delegation adopting bhangra dance forms.
The exciting workshop was conducted by the renowned Colombian Folk Delegation on here today as part of the cultural exchange initiatives of Dr Davinder Singh chhina the Global heritage exponent from the city .
The students felt really enthralled as they learnt Colombian dance steps performed on melodious musical Colombiano tunes particularly the Cumbia dance form . The catchy subtle dance moves electrified the atmosphere and added colours to the workshop.
Principal Gunmeet Kaur extended gratitude to the Director of the Colombian Troupe Rosmy Camargo and the Director of Punjab international folk festivals Dr. Davinder Singh Chhina. Principal felicitated both of them with Momentoes for their exemplary services for culture of peace in the field through exchange programs and international fests.
Addressing the talented belt of students, Madam Gunmeet said young children must make an effort to break the boundaries and to learn the dances of other nations to gain global experiences much needed to survive in today’s fast highly competitive world.
Ms Rosmy choreographed the workshop brilliantly . The Colombians also learnt bhangra steps from GGN students and choreographers Mr Naginderpal Singh ; Ms jyoti and ms Kirandeep kaur from Khalsa college of Education; Amritsar
Julio Camargo ; the senior Colombian artist was all praise for Punjabi hospitality . He said” we are totally impressed with the awesome hospitality extended by Punjabis and we had got mesmerised to see the heritage of punjab particularly 130 years old Khalsa college Amritsar “. Another troupe member ms nelly ponce said” we are so delighted and contented to visit the Golden temple ; Amritsar and we had got peace in our souls after visiting this holy place “
Dr Davinder Singh chhina ; who had hosted 47 folk and academic delegations in punjab in last more than two decades ; said” we are contributing for culture of peace and international cooperation by bringing the world cultures and communities on the common platform of International folk festivals “. Colombian delegation Puerta de Oro de Colombia director ms Rosmy commented “ Puerta de Oro de Colombia means The Golden Gate of Colombia and this golden gate of Colombia has now got connected to the Golden gate of Amritsar City through this incredible punjab visit “
