Accused of sacrilege, Dera follower from Kotkapura shot dead

KotkapuraPardeep Kumar alias Raju, an accused of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, was shot dead on Thursday morning,at about 7 AM.

Pardeep, a resident of Kotkapura, was an accused in the sacrilege including 6 others and was currently on bail.

His name was mentioned as accused in FIR no 63 registered in this regarding.

The locals said that about five or six assailants drove to the Hari Naon road Kotkapura and fired several bullets on Ranjeet Kumar Raju which killed him on the spot.

The assailants allegedly fired at Pardeep Kumar when he was opening the shop.

Ranjeet was one of the 7 accused in the incident of sacrilege.

“Three persons including his security guard have been injured while the one died on the spot. We have also recovered the CCTV footage from the crime scene and further investigation is on,” said Pardeep Kumar,IG Faridkot, talking to the media after visiting the spot.

The police said that they have got some clues about the assailants.

Raju was running a Karyana shot at Hari Naon road Kotkapura.

“The assailants rained several bullets and one person, Amar Singh, who was reading the newspaper sitting his shot was also fired in the chest. He perhaps saw them and all others shut themselves inside.When we came out, Raju had already been taken to the hospital while a police man, deployed as his security, was being taken to the hospital . He had a bullet injury in his leg,” the locals told the media persons later on.

The assailants allegedly left behind a motorcycle after the crime.

The several cartridges could be seen scattered on the crime scene.

All the senior police officers rushed to the spot immediately after the incident.
