The Nurmahal police have claimed to make a breakthrough in a theft incident in a bank here and arrested the ringleader of the thieves’ gang.
The investigating officer (IO) Sanjiv Kumar said that the accused has been identified as Rannjt Kumar son of Sarjug a resident of the Bhagal Pur district of Bihar.
IO said the accused have been brought on a production warrant from Kapurthala jail and is accused in many cases of thefts including in banks.
The police had booked unidentified thieves on the charge of stealing cash from the Axis bank branch.
Cheema Kalan bank branch manager Vivek Bhargav had complained to the police that a theft incident happened at the Axis Bank branch on September 11 approximately at 12.30 A.M.He said had said in his complaint that it was noticed on September 12 at 9 A.M when the branch was opened and Rs 11,65,680 was missing which were stolen.
IO said a case under sections 457(lurking house-trespass) and 380(theft in dwelling house) of the IPC was registered against the unidentified accused.
When contacted Station House Officer Rajindar Singh said that the accused has confessed his crime and told the police during interrogation that he along with his six accomplices stolen money from Axis bank on September 12 night .
