FARIDKOT: Sadar police Kotkapura has claimed to have seized 140 kg of poppy husk during a search of the trailer.
The police said it had laid a naka on the bridge of a canal near village Hari Naon.
According to the police SI Hakam Singh was present at the checkpoint when the police party saw a Ghora Tralla/truck trailer heading towards village Hari Naon from Kasam Bhatti at about 7.20 PM.
“When the police signalled the vehicle to stop at the naka, the driver of the vehicle tried to flee the place, but was caught by the police,” the police said.
Due to the suspect that the trailer had some drugs inside it, the police called up DSP(SD) Kotkapura Shamsher Singh to the spot for the search of the vehicle.
During the search, the police found 7 plastic bags full of poppy husk which weighed about 140 kg.
The search was made in presence of DSP Kotkapura Shamsher Singh.
The police arrested Jagjeet Singh alias Jagga, a resident of village Husnar of Muktsar district.
A case under section 15 C/61/85 of NDPS act has been registered against the accused at police station Sadar Kotkapura.
The police have also impounded the trailer with RNO PB 30 R 4298.
