NEW DELHI: Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday alleged “extremely serious irregularities” as votes were counted two days after the Congress held a milestone election, the first in over 20 years, and one in which no Gandhi was in the race.
Tharoor's election agent Salman Soz has demanded cancellation of all votes in Uttar Pradesh.
Amidst the process of counting of votes, Shashi Tharoor tweeted and said, "Thank you" to all those who made this a historic event.
Shashi Tharoor's rival in the contest is veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge, seen to be “Gandhi-approved”.
Shashi Tharoor camp's allegations are baseless- Congress Election Authority
Congress Election Authority sources have denied Tharoor's allegations, saying that the allegations are baseless. None of Tharoor's agents, who were present in Lucknow at the time of voting, raised questions. The problem is with his Delhi agent.
