CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh International Airport has been renamed. From today it will be known as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. The names of Panchkula and Mohali have not been added to airport.
The name change was inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Apart from Union Minister VK Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Haryana Deputy Chief Ministers Dushyant Chautala and Anil Vij, Governors of both the states Bandaru Dattatreya and BL Purohit were also present on the occasion.
CM Mann thanks PM Modi
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for naming the airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
He asked for a direct flight from this airport to the US and Canada.
