JALANDHAR
The district administration has launched the ‘Chetna Educational Tour Program to allow students to closelyobserve, understand, and gain hands-on experience of the working processes in different departments/offices.
Presiding over a meeting with officials of various departments, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that the Chetna Educational Tour Program will commence on August 22. Under the program, every Friday, a total of 150 students—divided into six batches of 25 each—will be taken to visit various government offices. Dr. Aggarwal stated that the objective of this initiative is to work to make school students aware of government procedures, so that in the future, whenever they or their relatives need to visit any office for official work, they have complete knowledge of the process and can get their work done without any hindrance. He informed that students will be taken to service centers, sub-registrar offices, municipal corporations, police stations, Saanjh centers, courts, RTO offices, banks, and other government institutions. There, they will gain detailed knowledge about office procedures, documentation processes, and online services. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Secretary of the Red Cross Society to coordinate in advance with the concerned departments and government/private schools for this purpose. He also asked the officials of the respective departments to actively cooperate in making this initiative a large-scale success by enhancing the students’ knowledge and educating them about official procedures. Earlier, while presiding over another meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that under the Chetna Project, the district administration, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, will provide Basic Life-Saving Skills training to students above 14 years of age. Dr. Aggarwal explained that the purpose of this initiative is to train students in methods to save the life of a patient/injured person before they reach a doctor during a medical emergency or accident—so that precious lives can be saved. He added that under this project, apart from students of classes 10, 11, and 12, university, college, ITI, and polytechnic students will also be given training by experts. It is worth mentioning that under the Chetna Project, the administration has successfully conducted such training for students in the past as well.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials of the concerned departments present in the meeting to ensure the necessary arrangements in this regard. He also invited representatives of educational institutions to actively participate in this campaign.
