The Punjab bandh was near total in
Nakodar, Shahkot, and Nurmahal towns and rural areas with most of the shops and other business establishments remained closed. However, government
offices, banks, chemists’ shops, and petrol pumps were open.
Farmer Union activists marched through the towns and staged dharnas at different places including highways and main roads.
Farmer leaders had announced a complete 'Punjab Bandh' on Monday in the state while assuring people that emergency services would remain functional. Farmers are agitating against the centre for a legal guarantee of a minimum support price for their crops.
